William Morris - Tulip and Willow
Artist: William Morris
Title: "Tulip and Willow"
Date: 1873
Function: Print Design

The detail and contrast of the colours immediately brought my attention to this piece. The style of this design is obviously quite floral and shows a lot of detail. I really like how this piece is shown as unfinished, which draws your attention from the colour to the lines, it makes me feel like getting a pencil and finishing it off for him. William Morris is clearly an established illustrator and the quality of the image is definitely very high. you can see this by looking at the smooth flowing pencil lines and the beautiful water colours used.

Artist: William Morris
Date: 1891
Function: book

This particular design by william morris is one of the leading book designs of his time because of the use of the popular floral design and medieval typography. The border is very elegant and is quite like the Victorian style. This piece attracted me because of the detailed print of the horseman and the floral boarder.
