1900's Early Modern

This a poster from the early modern period in use of San-serif fonts, clean cut lines, solid colors, angles and white space. Note the use of red and black and the geometric shapes used. The diagonal layout of the design immediately brought my attention towards it, i find myself tilting my head when looking at it.

Artist: Lucian Bernhard
Title: Priester Matches
Date: 1906
Function: Advertisement

Lucian Bernhard has made this advertisement stand out by reducing objects to the simplest form yet making it so we still know what it is. The font is playful and edgy and is similar to the matches in the poster because it is simplified. i like this design because it is simple, but it works.
